Leader pardons women convicts on Lady Fatima Zahra’s birthday
20th Jumada al-Thani is the birthday of the holy Lady of the two worlds, the daughter of the holy Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him and his progeny).
This auspicious occasion the entire Muslims of the world most especially the Shias cerebrates it where ever they are in the world. It is a tremendous and cerebrated occasion in Islamic republic of Islam and an official holiday is declared for that effect. This auspicious day is also known as mothers day in Iran.
On this occasion which mark the birth anniversary of Lady Fatima Zahra (SA) and Iranian Mother's Day, the grand Ayatollah, Sayyid Ali Khamenei has granted conditional pardon to a number of women convicts. The decision was made on a proposal by Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani to pardon or commute prison terms of a number of women inmates on the occasions of Lady Fatima Zahra’s birth anniversary, which is marked as Mother’s Day in Iran. According to Iran's Constitution, the Leader has the authority to pardon or commute prison terms of convicts upon a recommendation from the head of the Judiciary.
