Youngest Palestinian girl prisoner released after two months in jail
The Israeli occupation authorities (IOA) released on Friday morning the youngest Palestinian prisoner Malak al-Khatib, 14, after two months in an Israeli jail.
A state of great joy has prevailed among the residents of Beitin town near Ramallah shortly after Malak's release.
The Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said that Malak was released at Jabara checkpoint that separates Tulkarem and the 1948 occupied territories.
Malak was detained on December 31 near her school on allegations of throwing stones and possessing a knife. She was sentenced to two months in prison and fined 6,000 shekels ($1,500).
Malak al-Khatib was the youngest prisoner among 214 Palestinian children are currently held in Israeli jails. She was one of four female Palestinian minors who have been recently detained and sentenced by Israeli authorities.
