A prominent political commentator says the United States government is systematically empowering “terrorist groups” and “fascist forces” across the world.
Hooshidar Daragahi, an anti-war activist from Chicago, told Press TV that the administration of US President Barack Obama has a well-documented “track record” of “supporting and financing” the extremist forces in the Middle East and several other regions of the world.
The Obama administration is asking for the allocation of significant amounts to finance the training of at least 5,000 “good terrorists” in order to topple the legitimate government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the commentator stated.
The remarks come as both Turkish and American trainers are to undertake a military training program for the so-called Free Syrian Army (FSA) militant group. The deal was clinched after a third round of negotiations between Turkish and US military officials in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Media reports say Washington will supply weapons for the militants and is also expected to pay for the training.
The analyst further noted that the United States and its regional allies were attempting to shield the ISIL Takfiri terrorist group by targeting the Syrian government and Lebanon’s resistance movement Hezbollah.
The United States and its allies started their aerial campaign in Syria in late September under pretext of targeting ISIL positions. However, they have also hit Syrian infrastructure including oil and gas facilities and attacked the provinces where ISIL militants are not active.
Daragahi went on to say that Washington has already wreaked havoc and inflicted destruction on several countries of the Middle East and North Africa by meddling into the internal affairs of countries.
The analyst concluded by saying that the United States was empowering the “fascist” groups and extreme right- wing forces in eastern Ukraine, Greece, Italy, Spain and several other countries.
