Official: Iran to Continue Scientific Progress Regardless of Western Sanctions

An Iranian official played down the effectiveness of the US-led western sanctions against Iran, and said the country will continue making progress in different scientific areas, including nuclear technology, despite the enemies' pressures.

"Despite growing international pressures and sanctions against Iran, the Islamic Republic has come up with its own indigenous fuel in response to run its research nuclear reactors," Iran's Consul General in the Indian city of Hyderabad Hassan Nourian said.

Iran has managed to make considerable achievements in different scientific and technological spheres in recent years, although it is under several sets of the UN Security Council and western sanctions.

Earlier this year, a US analyst reiterated that the West's pressures and sanctions will fail to undermine Iran's nuclear energy program, but yet ruled out the possibility of any US and Israeli military confrontation with Iran.

The Project Syndicate analytical news website in an article by Nouriel Roubini wrote that the US and the European countries as well as world's other advanced economies and emerging markets are against any other war in the Middle East region due to their fear from considerable escalation of oil prices.

Roubini noted that Iran will not abandon its nuclear energy under any circumstances.
The fear premium in oil markets may significantly rise and increase oil prices by 20%, leading to negative growth effects in the US, Europe, Japan, China, India and all other advanced economies and emerging markets that are net oil importers.
