International Coalition Says It Does not Support Turkish Assault on Syria’s Al-Bab

Spokesman of US-led international anti-terror coalition Colonel John Dorian said on Wednesday that the coalition does not support the current operations by Turkish forces with its allied “opposition factions” against the Al-Bab city in northern Syria.

During a conference held in Baghdad, Dorian pointed that Turkey’s operation was carried out independently, saying it made the decision domestically, noting that the United States withdrew its special forces who were deployed in support of the Turkish forces and their allies

The anti-terror coalition official said that undergoing diplomatic talks between Turkey and the “coalition” should reach an agreement on the future role of Democratic Syria Forces, and prevent armed stand-off between them and the Turkish forces.

We must avoid unhelpful outcome of actions by two partners interested in defeating ISIL group, Dorian said in reference to the so-called ‘Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’ takfiri organisation.
