Iran, Russia underline need for serious campaign against extremism

According to Press TV, the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Wednesday said the Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Bogdanov, discussed the latest regional developments, including the crises in Syria and Yemen in a telephone conversation.
The two sides talked about the latest developments regarding the upcoming round of international talks on the Syria crisis, the third this year, which is reportedly scheduled to be held in New York on December 18-19.
The senior Iranian and Russian officials also discussed ways to bolster the political process in Syria.
During their telephone conversation, Amir-Abdollahian and Bogdanov also discussed the situation in war-hit Yemen and underlined the need for intra-Yemeni dialogue as the best possible solution to the conflict in the Arab country. They also welcomed efforts by the UN special envoy to Yemen, Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, to open peace talks on the Arab country.
