1540: The wise, pious and moral speeches of Imam al-Rida (a.s): part four
In the name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful
31- Imam al-Rida (peace be upon him) said:
The best wealth is the one obtained with dignity and the best sense is for a person to know his self. (Bihar al-Anwar volume: 78, page: 352).
32- He (peace be upon him) said:
White cock possessed five characteristics among the characteristics of the Prophet:
Knowing the time for prayer; having zeal; being openhanded; possessing braveness and meeting the opposite sex. (Wasa’il Shi’ah volume: 20, page: 242).
33- He (peace be upon him) said:
Our followers submitted to our orders, hears our sayings, go against our enemies and whoever is not like that is not among us. (Wasa’il Shiah volume: 18, page: 83).
34- In his journey to al-Ma’mun in Neishabour, he said:
I heard my father Musa Ibn Ja’far saying, I heard my father Ja’far Ibn Muhammad saying, I heard my father Muhammad Ibn Ali saying, I heard my father Ali Ibn al-Husain saying, I heard my father al-Husain Ibn Ali Ibn Abi Talib saying, I heard my father the commander of the faithful Ali IBn Abi Talib saying, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessing be upon him and his progeny) saying, I heard Jibril saying I heard Allah saying:
The world “there is no god but Allah” is my fortification and whoever enters into my fortification is free from my punishment. He said: when his horse move forward he stop and called upon us again and said: with its condition and I am part of that condition. (A’lamudeen by Dailami printed by Dar al-Kutb: 214).
35- He (peace be upon him) said:
Whoever remember our afflictions and weep for the atrocity committed against us shall be in the same position with us in the Day of Judgment; whoever mentioned our affliction while he weep and make others to weep, his eye shall not shed tears the day eyes shall shed tears; whoever sit in a gathering where life is given to our affairs, his mind shall not die the day when minds shall die. (Bihar al-Anwar volume: 44, page: 278, the chapter of weeping for affliction of Imam al-Husain).
36- He (peace be upon him) was asked of the limit of reliance in God? He (peace be upon him) said: it is for you not to fear anyone except Allah.
37- He (peace be upon him) said:
Showing affection to people is half of the intellect.
38- He (peace be upon him) said:
May Allah’s mercy be upon a servant that gives life to our affair;
I said to him: how life is given to your affair? He said: to study our knowledge and to disseminate it to people, definitely if people knows the goodness of our speeches they will surely follows us. (Uyunul Akhbar al-Rida (peace be upon him) volume: 1, page: 275).
39- He (peace be upon him): The meaning of “in the name of Allah” said by a speaker is that I am inserting effect and sign in myself with the sign out of the signs of Allah the Mighty and the Glorious, and that sign denotes servitude.
I inquired from him, what is meant by brand?
He said: it is a sign.
40- He (peace be upon him) said:
Be aware of midnight prayer because none among the believing servant that would wake up in the last part of the night and offers eight units of prayer including two units of shaf’I and a unit of witr and seek for Allah’s forgiveness in his Qunut except he is rescued from the punishment in the grave and also rescue from the punishment of the hellfire, likewise there will be increase in his life span and expansion in his provision; then he said: the homes which night prayer is observed reflect to the inhabitant of the heaven just as the luminousness of the stars reflect to the inhabitant of the earth.
