1523: The wise, pious and moral speeches of Imam Sajjad (a.s): part three
In the name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful
21- A man came to Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) complaining to him of his condition, he (peace be upon him) said:
The poor children of Adam! Every day they are encountered with three afflictions which they did not consider any of it, had it been they consider it, their entire afflictions will solve and everything in this world will be easy for them.
The first affliction: the day that decreases from their life, in the sense that they will be unhappy if there is any decrease in their wealth forgetting that he can replace the wealth but their life cannot be replaced.
The second affliction: the provisions they are receiving every day of which if it is halal they will be accountable to it and if it is from haram they shall be punish for it.
The third affliction: this one is greater than the former.
He was asked: what is it?
He said: no night shall come until they are a step closer to the last day whereas they don’t know whether the step is towards Paradise or towards Hellfire.
22- Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
Be aware of fulfilling your promise, to God Who has truly sent Mohammad as a Prophet, if the killer of my father Imam Husain bn Ali (a.s.) keep the knife he used in killing him with me I will definitely return it back to him.
23- Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
Whoever dies with our royalty during the occultation period of al-Mahdi, Allah shall reward him with the rewards of one thousand martyrs among the martyrs of battles of Badr and Uhud.
24- Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) was asked; what is death, he (peace be upon him) said: it is like removing the dress from the believer, and dismantling the track and heavy chain and bestowed with good and pure dresses, more convenient riding and secures abode.
As for the unbeliever it is like removing a valuable dress from him and transferring him from a secured abode to most dirty one and giving him rough dress and tremendous punishment. (Bihar al-Anwar, vol: 5 pg: 155)
25- Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
Grave is the first abode among the abodes of the last day, if you are rescued therein the next step shall be easier and if you are not rescued from it the next step after it shall be harder.
26- Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
As for the right of your father upon you is to be aware that he is your origin and without him you will not come into existence, whatever you see to be astonishing in yourself, you should know that your father is the source of that favor. So be grateful and thankful to Allah for that and there is no might except that of Allah.
27- Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
As for the right of your mother upon you is to be aware that she bear your pregnancy whereas one did not carry another, she feed you from the fruit of her mind whereas one did not feed another, she secure you with her ear, eyes, hands, leg and all her entity with happiness, she endure all sorts of fear, pains during your pregnancy until she defends you from all entanglements till you are delivered. She is happy when she feeds you while she is hungry, she covered you with cloth while she is naked, she gives you water to drink while she is thirsty, she gives you shadow while she is beaten by sun, she endeavor you with favor by her sufferings, she makes you happy with her sleepless nights, her stomach is formally your abode and her thighs are your training center, her breast is your source of drinking and turn herself to be your armored, she prefer to face the hotness and the coldness of the world instead of you; so gives thanks to her for that and that cannot be possible except with the assistance and success from Almighty Allah. (Makarimul Akhlaq, vol: 2 pg: 342).
28- Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
As for the right of your child upon you is to know that he is from you and he is connected to you, his good and bad act depends upon you, you are responsible to train him of good moral and provide an evidence to him for his Lord, you need to assist him in Allah’s obedience as you are rewarded or punished for that, therefore train your child so that his act will be fruitful and for you to have an excuse before your Lord for the good training you gave him. There is no might except that of Allah.
29- Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
I saw the entire good to have gathered in the pieces of lust that is in the possession of human being and whoever deposits all his affairs to Allah and did not depend on human being, Allah shall accept his request in everything.
30- Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
Whoever is sufficed with what Allah has distributed is the most contented person. (Tuhfal Uqul, pg: 285).
