1521: The wise, pious and moral speeches of Imam Sajjad (a.s): part one

In the name of Allah the Beneficent the Merciful
1- Imam Sajjad (peace be upon him) said:
“If people knows the benefit in acquiring knowledge they will definitely seek for it even though it will amount to shed of blood and deepen into whirlpool, Almighty Allah has inspired to Prophet Daniel saying: the detested servant of mine is an ignorant that underrate the right of the scholars and desist from following them meanwhile the most beloved servant of mine is the faithful ones that seek for great reward, closer to the scholars, follows the reasonable ones and accept the sayings of the wise men”. (al-Kafi vol: 1 pg: 35 hadith: 5)
2- A man came to Imam Ali bn Hussain (peace be upon them) and ask him about some issues, he answered him. The man return back to ask the same question, then Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
“It was written in the Bible that you should not inquire about what you don’t know if you have not implemented what you have learned because without implementation your knowledge will not increase except disobedience and it will not increase you before Allah except distance from His blessing”.
3- Imam Ali bn Hussain (peace be upon them) said:
If the entire people from the east to west of this world died I will not be scared of being in loneliness if the holy Qur’an is in my possession.
When his highness is reading the holy Qur’an he do repeat the statement (the Owner of the day of Judgment) as if he is about to die. (al-kafi vol: 2 pg: 602)
4- Imam Ali bn Hussain (peace be upon them) said to his son Imam al-Baqir (peace be upon him):
O’ my son! There are five people which you should not befriend and likewise you should not talk to them and should not accompany them.
I said: O’ my father, who are those people?
He said: be aware of making friend with lairs because they are like mirage that brings far distance closer to you and distance the closer things to you.
Be aware of making friend with a sinner because he will sell you for a plate of food or even lesser than that.
Be aware of making friend with a miser because he will disgrace you in his wealth and at the same time he is seriously need to make use of you.
Be aware of making friend with a foolish because he may cause havoc to you while he intended assisting you.
Be aware of making friend with those that cut relation with his relatives because I met them cursed three times in the Book of Allah. (al-kafi vol: 2 pg: 376).
5- It is reported from Ta’us al-Yaman that he said: I heard Imam Ali bn Husain(peace be upon them) saying: the signs of a true believer are five.
I said to him: what are they? O’ the son of the Messenger of Allah;
He said:
They fear Allah’s prohibition in secret;
They give Alms even though they are in need (poor);
They are Patience when they are afflicted with problem;
They are Patience and reasoning when they were annoyed;
They Says the truth even though they are in a difficult situation. (al-Khisai chp: 5 hadith 4)
6- Abu Hamza Thumali said: I heard Imam Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) saying:
There is no step that is beloved to Allah than two steps: the step taken by a believer in order to fill the gaps in prayer row and the step to visit a relative that cut his relation from him.
There is no condition that Allah loves than two conditions: an annoyance that is wiped away by a believer’s perseverance; and an entanglement that a believer wiped away with patience.
There is no drop of liquid that is loved by Allah other than two drops: they are the drop of blood in the ways of Allah and drop of tears in the darkness of night for the sake of Allah. (al-Khisai vol: 2 hadith 60)
7- Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
The position of perseverance to (Iman) Faith is like that of the position of the head compare to the body, therefore there is no faith for he who doesn’t have perseverance. (al-kafi vol: 2 pg: 89, hadith 4)
8- Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
The tongue of the children of Adam always wakes up before the rest part of the body asking them, how is the morning. They will all reply, we are fine if only you leave us alone, they will continue saying to the tongue: because Allah has continuously warned us that we will be rewarded and punished because of you.
9- Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) said:
The world has departed backing you while the hereafter has also departed facing you and each of them is having children. Try to be among the children of the hereafter and not the children of this world. Therefore renounce this world and desire the hereafter. (al-kafi vol: 2 pg: 131, hadith 15)
10- From the authority of Malik, he said: I said to Ali bn Husain (peace be upon them) that; tell me the entire rules of the religion.
He said: say the truth, judge with equity and fulfill your promises. (Bihar al-Anwar vol 75 pg 92).
