On the approach to Muharram the Iraqi security forces announced that they have discovered more than 160 hand-made bombs in a park in the east of Karbala. On Monday 4 November 2013 the security sources in Iraq said the bombs were hidden in Al-Khanafese district in the east of Karbala. The security sources said these bombs were planted there to be detonated later on at the time of Ashura ceremonies. Meanwhile planted bombs inside a car exploded in a Police station in the province of Salahuddin with at least 16 killed and 38 wounded.
