Buddhist extremists torched Muslim houses in Burma

Following burning Muslim houses by the Buddhist extremists in the northwest of Burma a new round of violence against Muslims started on Sunday. According to Al-Balad the Burmese government spokesperson claimed that a Buddhist taxi driver wanted to park in front of a Muslim shop and this led to Police to intervene in order to end the argument. But later on some Buddhists attacked Muslims houses and burned 2 houses in the town of Sundoy.

Since last June 250 people most of them Muslims lost their lives as a result of tensions between Buddhists and Muslims and 140000 are now refugees. In recent UN gathering in New York some Islamic countries asked the case of Burmese Muslims be reviewed and demanded that the government of Burma put a stop to activities of the extremist groups in that country.
