In his telephone conversation with Ibrahimi the UN Representative to Syria, the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrof stressed that military intervention in Syria will add to tensions in the area. Lavrof added that a political solution is the only way forward in Syria.

According to IRNA on Wednesday 28 August Lavrof in a telephone conversation told Ibrahimi that using force will add to instability in the area. According to the statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrof and Ibrahimi pointed to the fact that in such a crucial time it is appropriate that all sides behave in a responsible manner and do not repeat the past mistakes.
