6 people sent to jail for conspiracy to overthrow the United Arab Emirates regime

The official Abu-Dhabi television reported on Tuesday that the supreme court of United Arab Emirates (UAE) sentenced 56 persons to jail terms of 3-15 years for plotting to overthrow the regime in that country. This report added that 8 more people have been sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison. According to eye witnesses all the roads to courts had been blocked by security forces and all journalists were banned from covering the sessions.

The emirates regime is worried that the problems in other Arab countries will affect them. The emirates regime said they are preventing what they call threats of banned Muslim Brotherhood group in the country. According to Arabic Reuters all the convicted people said they are innocent and accused the UAE regime for bad behaviours and beating them at the time of their arrests. The international human rights organisations also said the serial trials in UAE are clear abuse of human rights.
