Sheikh Ahmad Al-Qatan the Head of Qolana wal Amal and one of the Lebanese Sunni scholars in an interview with Rasa news agency said we as Sunni Muslims condemn the martyrdom of Sheikh Shahata and 4 other Shia Muslims in Egypt. He also asked all Muslims of the world to combat the extremists Takfiris. Sheikh Al-Qatan added there is no doubt the American and Zionist spy networks are behind these crimes and they direct Takfiri groups.

He stressed the point that Salafi / Takfiris are mercenaries of the arrogant powers and the Islamic world must combat the extremism. This Sunni scholar emphasized that Takfiri way of thinking has nothing to do with Islam and without any doubt they are currently the biggest threat to the Islamic world. Sheikh Al-Qatan said the main aim of the arrogant powers is to sow seeds of discord amongst Muslims. He pointed to the plots by Salafis leader, Al-Aseer in Saida in Lebanon and said he is neither a Sheikh nor a Mufti; he is an agent of some western and Arab countries.
