The Shia and Sunni Muslims held the Friday prayers together in the holy shrine of the grandson of Prophet (PBUH) in Karbala. According to Al-Aalam the congregational prayers was held yesterday following the invitation by the Grand Ayatollah Sistani. In addition to Karbala, the congregational prays also took place in Baghdad in the Umul Batool Mosque where Shia / Sunni Muslims and scholars took part. In the past few weeks and following the invitation by the Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maleki, Baghdad witnessed Friday prayers where Sunni / Shia Muslims prayed together.
