Reacting to news about two men marrying in France one of them being the Imam of a Mosque in Paris, the Al-Azhar Islamic Studies Association declared that same sex marriage is Haram (forbidden) and those who commit such an act are not Muslims and do not belong to Islamic Ummah.

According to Egypt’s Al-Wasat Newspaper, the Al-Azhar statement added that same sex relations are forbidden in all religions and is against human nature and the norms of all societies of the world. The statement also added that praying behind those who believe in same sex marriage is forbidden and the Al-Azhar authorities asked people to avoid these types of persons.
