People should elect a president who can stand up to enemies, resolve problems: Leader

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called on the Iranian people to vote for a candidate who is able to stand up to the enemies and resolve the problems in the upcoming presidential election.

The Leader made the remarks in an address at a graduation ceremony for cadets of Imam Hossein (AS) University in Tehran on Monday, in reference to the 11th presidential election, which is scheduled to be held on June 14.

Ayatollah Khamenei said, “The people should prefer a person who can pave the way for a glorious future for the revolution and the country and is able to resolve the problems, strongly stand up to the enemies’ front, and make the Islamic Republic a model in the eyes of the oppressed people in the world.”

Commenting on U.S. officials’ remarks about Iran’s presidential election, he stated that such comments are not worth responding to. “But these remarks… show that the election is of high importance to them.”

“The enemies’ front has been creating a commotion ahead of every election for 34 years but has always failed. And, through the grace of God, the great Iranian nation will give them a punch in the mouth this time, too.”

According to Reuters, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Friday called into question the credibility of Iran’s presidential election, saying, “That is hardly an election by standards which most people in most countries judge free, fair, open, accessible, accountable elections.”
