Iran, Oman Stress Establishment of Durable Peace in Regional Waters

Senior Iranian and Omani commanders underlined the necessity for the establishment of durable peace and security in the regional waters, specially the strategic Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman and North of the Indian Ocean.
    

Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, who is in Oman for an official visit, held separate meetings with commanders of Oman's Navy, Ground Force and Air Force as well as Chief of Staff the country's Armed Forces on Monday.

During the meetings also attended by Iran's Envoy to Oman Ali Akbar Sibouyeh, the two sides stressed further expansion of bilateral ties between the two states.

They also laid emphasis on the necessity of efforts to establish sustainable peace, friendship and security in the Strait of Hormuz, the Sea of Oman and Northern Indian Ocean and put an end to piracy in the Gulf of Aden.

Sayyari, heading a high-ranking Iranian military delegation, is in Oman at the invitation of his Omani counterpart in a bid to further consolidate the friendly relations between the two countries, specially between the two states' military forces.

Yesterday, Sayyari met with his Omani counterpart in Masqat, during which he said that the two countries together with other friendly and brotherly states can establish security in the important region which includes the sensitive and strategic Strait of Hormuz.
