Muslims in the British borough of East Staffordshire have in the recent days offered an in-depth look into Islam to help remove the misconceptions about the religion.

The Muslim community in the city of Burton launched a three-day display themed “Exhibition Islam” this week that offered greater insight into the faith in a bid to “remove the divide” among people of different faiths in the town.
The exhibition, which took place between February 25 and February 27, was supported by Midlands Muslim Community, Burton and South Derbyshire College, Burton Town Centre Management and East Staffordshire Borough Council.
Visitors to the exhibit were presented with discussions on some of the main parts of the Islamic belief, including prayers and fasting during the holy month of Ramadan as well as the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the holy Quran and the status of women in Islam.
Organizers of the exhibit said they do not want it to attract converts, stressing they aim to disseminate a better understanding of Islam among people of other faiths.
“We want people to know that Islam is not an alien concept - it is here, has been here for a long time and is here to stay. So the more people that know about it, the better,” Shahid Hussain, an organizer of the event said.
“This is not a mission to convert people - it’s a mission to better educate people so we can all get along and understand each other a lot better,” he added.
Exhibition Islam is a registered British charity promoting understanding of Islam and its history including arts and has held several exhibitions internationally. -www.shfaqna.com/English
